Team Terminator was formed back in 1998, initially as a pure track cycling team. The founders, David Le Grys and Lee Povey, liked the idea of having a club specifically for racing on the velodromes around the country, travel around as a team with a bunch of mates having a good time.
Over time, the club grew bigger, the team kit looked good, and because of the success’s of various riders in Team Terminator, it attracted more members and also younger riders as they wanted to be involved.
Team Terminator started to get recognised as a development cycling team helping and encouraging not necessarily top riders but riders with potential who could not afford to go forward in our sport because of costs etc.
This sparked off an idea to help young riders by giving them free kit and some coaching from Lee and Dave. As the team developed, the youngsters started to respond and started winning races from U-16 to Junior riders on track and road races.
We have attracted sponsors over the years that wanted to get involved with our support young riders, from cycling trade, to clothing and kit and financial sponsor that would help fund the support we were getting from the bikes and kit.
Team Terminator has been noticed by British Cycling as a feeder for their development programme. The success of our Junior riders has been un-matched by any other club in the country over the past 10 years
The team also has 17 masters riders, and 11 Senior riders.
